SUL DE MINAS
This is a large region with favorable topography and climate for the crop, with an average temperature around 20° and altitudes ranging from 900 to 1300 meters. It’s close to the border with São Paulo state, where the Cooxupé’s headquarter and the SMC’s office are located, in Guaxupé.
REGIÃO VULCÂNICA

The caldera of a volcano extinct 80 million years ago delimits the area of volcanic soil found between southern Minas Gerais and northeastern São Paulo, covering 12 municipalities and presenting a unique terroir due to its differentiated climate and relief characteristics, with altitudes that can reach up to 1.380 meters. The region is in the scope of Sul de Minas.

CERRADO MINEIRO
The region was the first in Brazil to win the Denomination of Origin, and coffee production is of great importance. Coffee growers in the Cerrado who invested in quality were pioneers in the production of specialty coffees, ensuring traceability and excellent results in the cup. The climatic characteristics of the region propitiate a harvest season characterized by dry weather, which favors the processes. The region covers 55 municipalities in the Triângulo Mineiro, Alto Paranaíba, and Northwest Minas.
MÉDIA MOGIANA PAULISTA
With climate and altitudes favorable to the cultivation and quality of coffee, the region stands out for its mountainous relief. This is one of the reasons that limits the mechanization of harvests and culture procedures. The municipalities of Divinolândia, Caconde, Espírito Santo do Pinhal, and São João da Boa Vista stand out in the production of specialty coffees.
ALTA MOGIANA PAULISTA
Gathering 15 cities in the state of São Paulo, in the coffee producing centers of Franca, Pedregulho and Altinópolis, Alta Mogiana stands out for its traditional coffee growing with coffee plantations located on plateaus with subtle mountains. The average monthly temperatures are 21°C in summer and 17°C during winter, an important characteristic for the development of crops, providing high quality coffee.
CAMPO DAS VERTENTES
The region is formed by undulating plateaus, whose altitude ranges from 500 to 1,000m above sea level. To the east, Serra da Mantiqueira cuts through the sighting, with altitudes above 1,500m. The climate is mild, with cool and rainy summers and quite cold winters in the higher regions. These conditions favor coffee production. The region is represented by a total of 17 cities – Santo Antônio do Amparo is highlighted, for being known for its coffee production.
MATAS DE MINAS
With a range of 64 towns located in the east of Minas Gerais, Matas de Minas occupies about 3% of the state’s area and has the Atlantic Forest as its main biome. The climate is predominantly tropical, characterized by dry winters and rains distributed between late spring and early fall. The average temperature varies between 18 and 22° Celsius. The region has the predominance of soils with ideal conditions for water storage, drainage, and aeration, characteristics that are necessary for the development of the coffee system.
MANTIQUEIRA DE MINAS
The region is located on the Minas Gerais side of the Serra da Mantiqueira mountain range and has a centuries-old tradition of producing excellent coffees. One of the most awarded regions in Brazil, it is now recognized as a Denomination of Origin. With worldwide recognition and reputation, the coffees produced in Mantiqueira reflect the combination of a unique “terroir” and the local knowledge that has developed over the years in search of exceptional coffees.
SERRA DA CANASTRA
The Canastra Coffee Region is located around the Serra da Canastra National Park in the southeast of the state of Minas Gerais. The coffee plantations can be found on flattened surfaces at altitudes of up to 1,200 meters. The biome of the region is a mixture of Cerrado and Atlantic Forest, and, at the top of its main mountain chain, lays the spring of the São Francisco River, one of the most important rivers in Brazil.
